About Belle Chen

Belle Chen is a London-based Australian-Taiwanese pianist, composer and producer whose music defies easy categorisation, blending elements of classical, experimental, electronic and sound-art traditions into immersive sonic journeys. Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and raised in Brisbane, Australia, she moved to the UK to study at the Royal Academy of Music, where her explorations into improvisation and sound art began to shape her unique voice. Praised by Brian Eno as “original and provocative… feels like the sense of discovery,” Chen’s work has captured attention across both classical and contemporary spheres, with compositions performed by ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra and features in fashion and dance contexts. In 2024 her album Ravel In The Forest charted at No. 7 on the UK Official Specialist Classical Chart and No. 15 on Australia’s ARIA Classical Chart, drawing listeners into imagined landscapes of woodland, water and air.

Chen’s live performances are acclaimed for their blend of delicate piano, exploratory synth textures and free-flowing improvisations, creating moments that feel intimate, expansive and evocative in equal measure. She has appeared at major UK stages including the EFG London Jazz Festival and Kings Place, as well as international events and festivals, bringing her dynamic and reflective sound to audiences around the world.
